To celebrate our Nations 250th Birthday Miss Daisy Jane is getting Flag treats, and a shish kebab πΊπΈ
The Flag Cake can be made with just about any variation of “cake”…
- The one above was made with the cauliflower tortilla recipe (Quesadillas for Pups (it has the cauliflower tortilla recipe)
- You can also make it with raw ground meat, or gently cook using any one of these recipes (Mushroom Meatballs Veggie Turkey Meatballs, Turkey Meatballs Γ la Roscoe), just meat with an egg to help bind also works or even just plain Greek Yogurt as the “cake”
- The frosting is plain non-fat Greek yogurt, with small blueberries and raspberries, I found the raspberries gave a better red than strawberries.
- I used a mini- loaf pan to get the rectangle shape, just make sure to “grease” it with olive oil or coconut oil, or any dog safe oil, so the “cake” will release
- Once cake is done, cool (if needed), then frost with Greek yogurt and place blueberries (I cut blueberries in half so they wouldn’t roll) and the raspberries (again I cut into 4th or even skinner) to get the stripes πΊπΈ
I’m also making her shish kebabs (Shish Kebabs )
We also decided to try an apple pie ππ₯§ and a Swiss Mushroom Turkey Burger π§ππ«π¦π
- For the apple pie I used the coconut berry tart crust recipe (Coconut Berry Pup Tarts) then filled with applesauce (no additional ingredients) and topped with a slice of fresh π
- For the Swiss Mushroom Turkey burgers, I used the turkey meatball recipe from above (any will work) and then used two shiitake mushroom caps as the “buns”. I had dried so I soaked them overnight, if you have fresh you can skip the soaking, remove the stems and sautΓ© in a bit of olive oil until they are soft.
- Once the turkey burgers are done, and the mushroom caps are soft, assemble by placing a small slice of swiss cheese on each mushroom cap, placed the burger, and if needed heat a bit to melt the cheese.
- Watch them enjoy this perfect summer time July 4th treat πΊπΈ
