Mushrooms 🍄

  • Mushrooms 🍄 from There’s a Mushroom for That 🍄 and remember mushrooms are food so you can’t overdose them just increase doses slowly and watch for tummy upset
    • This is only a brief list. Most mushrooms wil benefit most cancer types (Note: this is why we recommend Real Mushrooms 5 Defenders, if you decide to go with that brand, and then add in additional individual ones)
    • Specific Mushrooms for Specific Cancers:

CBD Oil

  • Make sure the CBD Oil you buy is full spectrum
    • Full spectrum extract is also referred to as “whole plant” or “full plant” extract. 
    • Full spectrum extract is a concentration of all components of the hemp plant, including cannabinoids, terpenes, plant sterols, fatty acids, flavonoids, and essential oils, vitamins, and other nutrients.
    • It should also use hemp oil as the carrier oil rather than a different oil or alcohol. 
    • Some brands others have used:

INDIVIDUAL HERBS  🌿 -  All have anti inflammatory properties 

  • Milk Thistle
    • Supports the liver – which is needed with NSAIDs
  • Ginger
  • Slippery Elm
    • Triggers stimulation of nerve endings in the gastrointestinal tract, promoting increased mucus secretion. This helps protect the upper and lower GI tract from excess acidity and helps prevent the formation of ulcers. 
    • CAUTION Slippery elm contains a soft fiber called mucilage which can decrease how much the body absorbs.
    • To prevent interaction, administer slippery elm bark at least two hours before and/or after conventional medications and supplements. 
  • Marshmallow Root (From the Herbal Dog book)
    • Helps detoxify kidneys
    • It also helps the tummy (it’s a demulcent)  and it’s safer for long term use than slippery elm
    • Marshmallow (Althaea officinalis)
      • Part used: root
      • Long-term use: yes
      • Potential Concerns
        • Herb-drug interactions: none known
        • Cautions: Take any pharmaceuticals 2 hours away from a marshmallow dose. Can lower blood sugar.
      • Kidneys: Can address dryness in the kidneys and bladder. Increases elimination through the kidneys. Works as a balancer, helping both dogs ho urinate too much and dogs who urinate too little. Good for resolving stones and gravel, inflammation, urinary tract and bladder infections, and irritation of the mucous membranes within the urinary system. A salty diuretic, marshmallow's properties help detoxify the kidneys and cleanse the bladder.
      • And becausese I’m a big believer in diet making a big difference here’s some foods that help…Roscoe would get puréed asparagus, celery and cranberries with every meal🐾💙
    • Foods for kidney health: asparagus, beets, berries, broccoli, brown rice, carrots, celery, chlorophyll, cod, cranberries, cucumbers, eggs, kale, kidney beans, kidney glandular (dried kidney), mackerel, pasture-raised meats, peas, phytoplankton, sardines, spinach, string beans, sweet potatoes, watermelon, wild rice ...Bonus- it’s good for cancer!!
  • Melatonin
    • Helps sleep
    • Has anti inflammatory properties 
    • Helps with CCD (Canine Cognitive Decline) Also known as doggie dementia 
  • Curcumin NOT Golden Paste! 
    • 95% C3 complex, with bioprene, which is a specific type, just Curcumin and no additional tumeric
  • Boswillia
    • 5-Loxin, with bioprene, which is a specific type
    • Also helps with bone pain

    • Ashwagandha
      • Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is sometimes called "Indian ginseng" and is also considered an adaptogen, like Astragalus root.
      • Ashwagandha has been found to be able to sensitize tumor tissue to the damaging radiation of radiation therapy but not to sensitize healthy cells.
      • Ashwagandha will stop cancer cells from multiplying by:
      • Regulating the cell cycle, which stops multiplication and proliferation
      • Increasing cancer cell death (apoptosis)
      • Inhibiting angiogenesis, which is the growth of new blood vessels from a tumor that supplies nutrients in the blood to support increased growth
      • Inhibit NF-kappa-beta, a cell-signaling molecule that reduces inflammation and cancer cell growth.
      • NF-kappa-beta is an important molecule that turmeric, cannabis, and medicinal mushrooms inhibit to reduce inflammation and cancer cell growth.(Note: which is why I have Curcumin, CBD and mushrooms in our support document as key supplements)
      • Although an exact dose for cancer in veterinary species has not yet been determined, published doses for ashwagandha suggest ~50 mg/pound of the dried herb two or three times daily. Alcohol extracts of ashwagandha are dosed at 1 ml/10 pounds of body weight two or three times daily. (Note: Dr Hale doesn’t like alcohol extracts…)
    • Astragulus Root
      • Herbal Immune Tonic: Astragalus root (Astragalus membrana-ceous) is a Chinese herb, known as a "Qi tonic" and is immune modulating. Astragalus root is considered to be very safe and effective in modulating immune system function. It has been found to induce cellular differentiation and cell death (cytotoxic). Note - No dosing given

    Other Supplements 

    • Appocaps

      • The most important ingredients in Apocaps®, which make this the very first supplement of its kind, are the apoptogens luteolin (a citrus bioflavonoid), apigenin (a citrus bioflavonoid), curcumin and silymarin.     • Digestive Enzymes
      • Helps ‘pre-digest” their food by breaking down the protein, fat and carbs (even veggies have carbs), sugars
      • Recommended for homemade diets by the Dog Cancer Survival Guide and Diet
      • May be beneficial for other diets (pre-made, freeze dried with added proteins, etc) but check with manufacturer first
      • Helps Daisy Jane with her Cronic Entropy

    • Yunnan Baiyao is a Chinese Herb that helps control bleeding as well help fight inflammation ...always check with your vet before using to make sure the bleeding is not serious... Epsilon Acupuncture is where I got Roscoe's from and Dr Hale liked it because she said the dosing guidelines were what she uses.
    • Dolce's Legacy  says "Metronidazole can easily be replaced with Coptis. And omeprazole can be replaced with Bao He Wan ❤️‍🩹 I use Plum Flower brand with my clients. Always make sure to crush the pellet. ❤️‍🩹" Coptis  may also help with tumors...

      Pumkin seed oil has also been recommended by my vet and apparently has been known to help with enlarged prostate
