Miss Daisy Jane's 10th Birthday Cake πŸΎπŸŒΌπŸ’›

Inspired by the Forever Dog Life book

Ingredients
  • 1/2 lb Ground turkey or beef (I used 99/1 ground turkey because of Daisy Jane's gastrointestinal issues)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup rolled or steel cut oatmeal
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheese (I skipped this one)
  • 1 large sweet potato skinned, cooked and mashed or 1 8 oz can pure pumpkin puree
  • Decorations
    • For the candles I used skinny asparagus
    • The top garnish is her veggie mix
    • Bottom is blueberries
    • You can be creative and use any dog safe veggie/fruit for decorations
  • The "ice cream" is non-fat Greek yogurt
Directions
  • Cake
    • Preheat oven to 220 degrees
    • Mix ground meat, egg, oatmeal and cheese
    • Shape into at least two patties (I doubled the recipe and made several small meat patty treats along with the two cake layers)
    • Place patties on parchment covered sheet pan
    • Bake patties 2 1/2 hours (or longer if needed)
    • When done remove from oven and let cool
  • Frosting/Decorations
    • Mix the sweet potato/pumpkin with a bit of broth and disk till creamy adding a bit more broth as needed
  • Assembly
    • Place a patty on plate
    • Top with middle filling (can be the same as the frosting, can be pureed fruit or veggies...I used some of Daisy's veggie mix)
    • Place the top patty on
    • Use the sweet potato/pumpkin to frost like you would frost a cake...filling holes and crevices
    • Smooth the frosting with a knife
    • Add candles and other decorations if desired
  • Watch them gobble it up!
