Here are a couple of Alternative Cancer Therapies from "There’s a Mushroom for That" - some people have tried them (they may not be readily available)
ALTERNATIVE CANCER THERAPIES
- Ozone
- Cancer cells are not like healthy normal cells. For one, their metabolism is different. Normal cells derive energy from metabolizing food in the presence of oxygen. They are able to produce large amounts of energy in the form of ATP in the presence of oxygen.
- Oxygen is toxic to cancer cells. Cancer cells metabolize foods in the absence of much oxygen and do not produce a lot of energy from that low-oxygen reaction.
- Ozone is "super-oxygen." Normally, oxygen comes as O2
- Ozone is O3, containing 30% more oxygen, which makes it very toxic to cancer cells. Additionally, the use of medical ozone treat ments will stimulate the body's immune system to reduce inflam mation and attack the cancer cells damaged by the O3. Ozone ca be added to the blood, administered by rectal insufflation, bubble through intravenous fluids, and given IV or subcutaneously, c injected directly into the tumor mass.
- Mistletoe Injections
- Mistletoe is a semi-parasitic plant that lives off of the sap from the trees (apple, oak, pine, and elm) it attacks. This therapy is widely used in Europe to treat cancer in humans. It is administered by injection, so you need to work with a veterinarian to be sure it is safely and effectively administered. Very few side effects have been noted with mistletoe injections. There is an oral form of this mistletoe, but it's not as potent as the injectable.
- Mistletoe works by increasing immune system vigilance against cancer cells and the immune cells that are stimulated, like natural killer T cells, which can destroy cancer cells.
- My colleague, Dr. Kendra Pope, an integrative, board-certified veterinary oncologist (https://prismvethealth.com/), has been using mistletoe injections, as well as high-dose IV vitamin C therapy for her cancer patients with a great deal of success in controlling their cancers. She is available for telemedicine consults, and if you are in northern New Jersey, you can take your pet with cancer to see her in person.
- High-dose IV Vitamin C
- Dr. Pope also provides high-dose Vitamin C injections in the form of ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate. This common antioxidant, when given by injection directly into the vein of a person or animal at pretty high dosages, has been found to be cytotoxic (kills) cancer cells.
- Although vitamin C is an antioxidant, when it is given at very high dosages, it becomes a "pro-oxidant" and can oxidize and kill cancer cells. A common oxidant is hydrogen peroxide, or ozone; as discussed above. These compounds kill bacteria, viruses, and cancer cells using the oxidizing properties of oxygen, ozone, hydrogen peroxide, or super-high doses of vitamin C.
- The vitamin C is diluted into a bag of intravenous fluids and “dripped" into the vein slowly over several hours to avoid any adverse reactions. This treatment is given weekly and, for optimal benefit, is alternated with weekly ozone treatments.
- Dolce's Legacy
- Assists with graviola, mistletoe therapy injection, ozone therapy, apricot kernels to name a few none of which should be used without supervision!
- But please keep in mind that each dog and their cancer respond differently…it all depends on how early it was caught, how healthy they are, etc
